In July 2017, Barts Charity launched TransformTrauma, the UK’s first major campaign to raise public awareness and money for traumatic injury research, which includes ways to help improve trauma survivor’s recovery experience.
Barts Charity supports the work of the Centre for Trauma Sciences (C4TS), which manages AfterTrauma. Although we are based in London, the information on this site and research conducted by C4TS benefits victims of trauma across the UK and the globe.
The appeal to date
The 2017 appeal launch was fronted by rapper Professor Green. The appeal raised £325,000 and reached over 3.5 million people thanks to a partnership with the Sunday Mirror and a social media campaign.
Since then, The Sunday Mirror, the Daily Express and other media outlets have continued their national support, running features on several trauma survivors who have shared their stories of injury and recovery in support of the appeal.
The appeal also features three short videos showing common serious injury scenarios: an elderly person falling down stairs, a child falling off their bike and an adult in a road traffic accident.
