Do you want to be involved in trauma research?

wE hope you all had a good Christmas and New Years and are feeling optimistic for what 2016 can bring for you and your loved ones.
AfterTrauma are now looking for former trauma patients who would like to provide input into either one or all of the three national trauma projects which are outlined below:
1. NICE: The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) issues guidelines to UK clinicians about best practice in caring for patients. NICE are currently developing guidelines for clinicians treating patients with traumatic injuries. The have asked AfterTrauma what kind of information trauma patients and their families would appreciate getting whilst in hospital prior to discharge and once home. We will be grateful if you could send us ideas of what information you think may have been of benefit or still could be of benefit.
2. AfterTrauma are setting up a national patient forum to provide a clear way for former trauma patients to influence high level decisions about trauma research and trauma care services across the UK. We anticipate this will initially involve about four interactions a year, consisting of email responses to questions about research proposals or policy documents that we send out. We are looking for patients and/or carers who would like to be involved in the national forum.
3. Rehab Audit: Did you try to access specialist rehabilitation services after your injury? NHS England and the Welsh government have funded a national clinical audit of specialist rehabilitation for patients with complex needs following major injury. The study is trying to improve the data collected by clinicians about who gets referred to specialist rehabilitation and patient outcomes. We are looking for patients to comment on the draft audit report when it is produced.
