Imperial College study seeks patients with motor impairment

by forum_admin » Wed May 29, 2019 3:14 pm

Reza Kalantar is currently an MRes Medical Robotics and Image-Guided Interventions student at Imperial College London, St Marys Hospital campus, undertaking research towards developing a gaze-guided assistive robotic suite for patients suffering from spinal injuries, motor impairment or tetraplegia to conduct daily-living activities. Through this project, she intends to incorporate the option for patients to command the robotic arm attached to their wheelchair or present in their home setting, through their eye movements and/or speech to conduct their desired tasks. The main purpose of her project is to solve the current and ongoing struggles and complications for patients suffering from motor impairment

She is looking for patients or carers of whom with mobility and motor impairment in order to collect data/information and trial for latter stages of development (if participants are willing to contribute). She intends to conduct a brief questionnaire/interview with all range of patients, including amputees, stroke patients, patients with spinal injuries and even patients with more severe impairments such as tetraplegia. She believes these patients/carers would be able to provide valuable information and insight to her project and help me ensure that her project will make a genuine impact on their well-being. She is happy to explain further and provide more details through email if necessary, or even via a phone call or in person.

If you would like to know more about Reza’s study and think you might like to contribute, then you can contact her: r.kalantar18@imperial.ac.uk
